VE Day

Posted by on February 21, 2017

It’s been about a week since my last post, as I’ve been out of commission with that flu that’s been going around.  When we left off, Stanley was writing from England in the waning days of fighting in ETO. We now come to his letter of May 9, 1945, the day after VE Day.  This post may seem familiar to those who have been following this blog from the beginning as this letter was initially posted on May 8, 2015, the 70th anniversary of VE Day. What makes this letter a stand-out is that in it Stanley describes a day long aerial tour of Europe that he took on May 8, 1945 (VE Day), riding in a B-17 courtesy of the 8th Air Force.

As with the prior posting of this letter, rather than summarizing and providing excerpts, I am providing a link to the letter in its entirety. You can get there by clicking here… or by clicking on the image below.  Enjoy.
